Donatella Versace announced in an interview with 1843 Magazine that she will not be including fur in her future designs.

Versace does not want to kill animals in the name of fashion as “it doesn’t feel right.” Versace has vowed to stop using fur together with other luxury brands such as Gucci and Michael Kors.

At present, however, the brand is still retailing a US$1,450 cushion made of rabbit fur on its website. The brand will also continue to incorporate leather in its luxury pieces.

Italian accessories company Furla is likewise going fur-free starting with its 2019 cruise collection. Other brands, including Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, and Donna Karan, have pledged to stop using fur as well.

Nylon reported that Versace’s latest range includes pieces that are more politically-conscious. In its latest designs, the brand showcases pieces that carry statements such as “courage,” “love,” and “unity.”
