Hubert De Givenchy, the founder of luxury brand Givenchy, has passed away in his Paris home at the age of 91.

The news was confirmed by his partner, Phillippe Venet, who was deeply saddened when he spoke to AFP.

The French fashion designer is known for creating quintessential looks for Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. He made the iconic black dress that Hepburn wore in the famous film Breakfast at Tiffany’s and another beautiful dress that she donned in the 1954 comedy-drama Sabrina.

According to BBC, Givenchy’s latest creation was showcased at the Oscars this year. Chadwick Boseman wore a custom Givenchy design while Gal Gadot attended the event in a gown from the Haute Couture collection.

Bernard Arnault, head of luxury brands LVMH, credited Givenchy as one of the fashion designers who placed Paris on the fashion map in 1950s.

The designer wishes that his friends and admirers would make a donation to UNICEF in memory of his passing.
